Teacher of the Month: Shane Blume Helps Students Excel Through Music

Music gives students a chance to build confidence, discipline, and creativity. This month, AQS Asset Management is proud to recognize Shane Blume, a music teacher at Holy Rosary Catholic School, as our August 2026 Teacher of the Month. Shane teaches students from Pre-K3 through 8th grade, helping children grow through music across many stages of their education. For Shane, teaching was a natural fit, confiding, “I love music, and I love kids, so I naturally fit as a music teacher.”

Shane Blume is the August 2026 AQS Teacher of the Month

That simple answer says a lot. Great teachers often find their way into the classroom because their passion connects directly with the students they serve. For Shane, music is more than a subject. It is a way to help students discover talent, build confidence, and work toward something bigger than themselves. Some of Shane’s finest teaching moments come from seeing his students succeed.

Shane Blume Details the Rewards of Teaching

“Seeing children excel is the greatest reward to teaching,” Shane said. Over the years, Shane has taught many students who have gone on to earn honors for their musical abilities. One of the most meaningful achievements has been seeing students recognized by the Texas All-State Choir, one of the highest honors for student musicians.

A Teacher Who Believes Students Are Capable of Excellence

Those accomplishments do not happen by accident. They come from practice, encouragement, instruction, and a teacher who believes students are capable of doing excellent work. Like many teachers, Shane also faces challenges in the classroom. For him, one of the greatest challenges is managing behavior and helping students stay focused. “Behavior problems are my biggest challenge to deal with,” Shane said. “If parents are supportive, sometimes it can be easier. When parents are not supportive, the struggle is real.”

That honesty reflects something many educators understand. Teaching works best when students, parents, and teachers are moving in the same direction. Support at home can make a real difference in the classroom, especially when teachers are working to help students develop discipline, respect, and responsibility.

Nominate a Teacher for AQS Teacher of the Month

At AQS, we believe teachers are some of the most committed people in our communities. They bring patience, creativity, and heart into their classrooms. They give up evenings and weekends. They spend their own money. They keep showing up, even when the job asks too much, and thanks them too little. Their reward is often internal, knowing they helped a child understand something, believe in themselves, or discover a little more of what they are capable of. Our Teacher of the Month series is one small way we recognize outstanding educators and help support the work they do. Congratulations, Shane Blume! Thank you for helping students grow through music, pursue excellence, and discover what they can achieve. Know a teacher who deserves support for their classroom?
